I have always been influenced by cats and dogs. When I was a young boy my mother would take me to the park, and we would feed stray kittens and help find them homes in and around my town. Our family couch always had cats and dogs perched on or tucked in between, and on top of myself and family. My pets always had a way of bringing joy and comfort. Fostering kittens and finding them happy homes was a young life experience that had a great influence on my personal development.
As a junior in college I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. My parents surprised me with a black lab puppy named Jackson and in doing so provided be with the most loyal companion. He was always by my side, sharing his unconditional love. Jackson helped me get through one of the harder times in my life.
In 2012, I resigned from a New York-based hedge fund where I was a portfolio manager. My wife felt Maine would provide a better work-life balance and allow me to spend more time with my family. After five years of being an entrepreneur I ran into a neighbor, Dan Espinal, who shared his vision for Rarebreed Veterinary Partners. I was so excited to be a part of a company that strived to be a leader in veterinary medicine through a focus on creating better work environments.
Life runs in circles and it seems like mine has come full circle. I have spent over 25 years giving back as a cancer survivor and board member of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society raising money and providing inspiration to other cancer patients. Now, I consider myself so fortunate to have a chance to be a part of a team striving to make an impact on the profession that has always been there for my family and our pets, which now include two yellow labs. I consider myself extremely lucky and I am truly humbled to be a part of the Rarebreed team.
